Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Standard and Road Trip mode?

Standard mode splits named expenses (accommodation, meals, activities) among whoever participated. Road Trip mode focuses on fuel costs per journey leg, with optional driver discounts for wear and tear.

How does the driver discount work?

Set a percentage (0–100%) to reduce the driver's fuel contribution. 0% means they pay equally; 100% means they pay nothing. The remaining fuel cost is split equally among all payers.

Can I handle multi-stop road trips?

Yes — add a separate journey for each leg. You can assign different drivers and different passengers for each leg, which is common on longer trips.

How do couples sharing a room get handled?

In Standard mode, mark individuals as part of a couple. Accommodation costs are split per person — if two people share a room they each still pay their equal share of the group total.

What if someone skipped an activity?

Uncheck that person from the expense's "Who participated?" list. Only the people who were ticked will share that cost, leaving others unaffected.

Can I use currencies other than pounds?

Yes — the calculator uses your numbers as-is. Just enter all amounts in the same currency and the splits will be accurate regardless of which currency you use.
